Family Values - Honest, Integrity, Reliability
How often to I need to get my maintenance checked on my AHU, even if my unit is working just fine?
If the unit is under warranty, then once a year, right before the heat season (Spring). If the unit is older, then twice a year as this well help you save your unit for a longer life span. (Spring, and Fall) I have a new born baby girl, Should I do anything to my a/c?
Yes, of course. We recommend you change your air conditioning filter every month. You want to make sure there is minimal dust partials in the air for her developing lungs, and make sure the a/c ducts are cleaned out. What should I keep my thermostat at when I'm not home?
Rule of thumb that I always tell my customers is 2 to 3 degrees above what you normally keep it at when you are home... How often do I need to change my a/c filter?
Filters need to be changed every 3 months. But if you have large pets, allergies, or smoke, you will need to change it more often, every month or every other month. "When in doubt, change it." The cleaner the air filter, the better for your health and the life span of your unit. Is there a Tax Credit and What do I need to do to qualify?
In 2011, a tax credit for all energy efficient units, bought before Dec 31, 2010. The tax credits, 30% up to $1,500. Read more at Energy Star I have a big dog that sheds so much hair! Are there any special things I should be doing to take care of my A/C system?
Dog hair most often will clog the air filter that leads back to the A/C air handler.
If the filter gets clogged up, then air flow will be reduced, and you unit will have to work harder to keep you cool. So not only will you dog keep you warm, so will your A/C.. not so good! Inspect your filter often, at least once a month. If you have a disposable filter, you should replace it often, if you have the washable types then I recommend that you wash them at least once a month. Whatever you do, do not leave the A/C running with the filter removed. I'll repeat that as it's really really important! Do not run your A/C unit without the air filter! Dust and dog hair will get into the A/C unit and then you'll start to develop a real problem. |
